Work on the N/M20 Cork to Limerick Project is currently at Design and Environmental Evaluation stage where the key constraints are being identified within the study area.  As part of the Design and Environmental Evaluation stage the project team needs to undertake site visits to gather information in respect of the constraints in the study area.

Limerick City and Council has engaged the services of environmental specialists to carry out Environmental surveys for the development of the N/M20 Cork to Limerick Project. These specialists will be carrying out surveys/site visits within the N/M20 Study Area. They are consultants engaged by Limerick City and County Council and are required to undertake environmental surveys for the N/M20 Cork to Limerick project within the functional areas of Limerick City and County Council, Cork County Council and Cork City Council. The environmental specialists will hold identification and a letter of introduction from the N/M20 project office.

Some of our environmental specialists are interested in recording the diversity of mammals (including bats) and birds that occur in the area.  The environmental specialists will be surveying along the preferred option corridor in the coming months.  As part of this process they will be deploying wildlife trail cameras and bat detectors to record activity at sampling sites along the preferred option corridor.

Deployment locations will generally be along hedgerows, riverbanks, patches of trees, or close to other habitat features of interest.  Some of the wildlife cameras may be deployed close to a burrow system or mammal track.  They will not be placed in public areas and will be focused on recording the small mammals and birds that occur directly in front of the camera locations.  In the event that you come across any of these detectors or wildlife cameras, we’d ask that they are left in place and if you wish at any time for them to be removed (e.g. they are in the way of hedge cutting/grass mowing equipment) please contact the N/M20 project office and this will be arranged as soon as possible.

Should you have any queries on the project or site visits/surveys, please contact the N/M20 project office by email (info@corklimerick.ie); by phone (061 973730); or by letter to the N/M20 Project Office, Lissanalta House, Dooradoyle, Limerick V94 H5RR.  Limerick City and County Council appreciates your cooperation during this process.
